PM Modi responds to no-confidence motion, accuses Opposition of divisive politics

The NDA Thursday defeated the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha by a comfortable margin, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi assuring Manipur of support and development. In his campaign-style speech in the House, the PM lashed out at the Opposition and stated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had already addressed the Manipur matter comprehensively, but the parties were only interested in "playing politics". "I want to tell the mothers and sisters of Manipur that the country and the parliament are with you. I want to assure the people of Manipur that we will work to develop Manipur," he said in a two-hour-13-minute speech.
