Amit Shah calls for dialogue with warring groups in Manipur, slams ‘politicisation of violence’

Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday called for an end to the ongoing violence in Manipur, labelling it a "blot on society”. He appealed to the clashing Meitei and Kuki ethnic groups in the state to engage in discussions with the government. Speaking during the no-trust motion debate in the Lok Sabha, Shah criticised politicisation of the violence, deeming it “more shameful” than the act itself. Shah defended Manipur's Chief Minister N Biren Singh, highlighting his cooperation with the Centre, and noted a declining death toll since the outbreak of clashes on May 3. Shah also denounced the opposition for preferring "ruckus, not discussion" and criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's visit to Manipur.
