PM Modi slams Congress over implementation of Panchayati Raj system

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday criticised the Congress for its “lack of understanding and efforts” to implement the Panchayati Raj system in villages after Independence. Speaking at the inauguration of the 'Haryana Kshetriya Panchayati Raj Parishad', a two-day BJP event via video conference, the PM pointed to neglect in strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions during Congress rule at the Centre. Modi also emphasised the significance of tier 2 and tier 3 cities and villages in the journey towards a developed nation.
