K. T. Rama Rao, Minister for Industries and IT in Telangana, has accused the Narendra Modi-led central government of adopting a discriminatory approach towards the state. Rao expressed his disappointment over the lack of response from the Centre to several representations made regarding the development of the Greater Hyderabad region.
Rao highlighted that Telangana has been seeking land for the construction of skyways and extension of metro rail for the past 10 years, but the Centre has not cooperated. He emphasised that if the Centre continued to ignore their requests, the state government would take the matter to the people.
Additionally, Rao alleged that the central government had sanctioned metro projects for smaller cities in Uttar Pradesh while ignoring the extension of the metro rail project in Telangana.
In a scathing remark, Rama Rao speculated that given an opportunity, the Prime Minister would shift the national capital to Gujarat. He called for unity among the people to oppose the two national parties, the Congress and the BJP, and pledged the commitment of the state’s ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to replicate Telangana's development model.
