In the run-up to the assembly elections in Rajasthan, the BJP is in a dilemma concerning the selection of its chief ministerial candidate.
While the incumbent Congress government is seeking to secure a second consecutive term in power, the BJP is aiming to end its five-year drought and taste victory once again. However, the biggest hurdle for the BJP lies in the aspirations of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is unwilling to relinquish her claim to the CM’s chair.
While Raje possesses a formidable support base due to her past tenures as Rajasthan chief minister, reports suggest underlying differences between her and the top BJP leadership. Additionally, central leaders have attempted to sideline her and promote a new generation of leaders.
The question remains whether she will be given another chance, with speculation mounting that the BJP may consider her candidacy following the disastrous outcome of sidelining former CM B.S. Yediyurappa in Karnataka.
